Cross platform schema

Hi, we're a startup just getting our first data pipeline setup so we can query our app data from Redshift.  However, after sending some test data through we noticed that each source creates its own schema in Redshift.

For our reporting we want to see cross platform without doing join (in every query) and then be able to cut this by platform.  In other words, we want a single cross platform schema where the platform is a field in each event.

How do we do this?

  • Hey  Shane Sareli !

    That's a great question.

We separate each source into its own schema because we think not only is that a clean way to keep your data and best practice, but because we think it is the best way to understand where your data is coming from. If you want to analyze cross-platform, that's usually where end tools, like Mixpanel or Amplitude come in, but as far as our warehouse pipeline works, there is no way to disable this functionality. You will have to create joins tables if you want to analyze that data from your warehouse.

Sorry that this probably wasn't the answer you wanted to hear! If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask or feel free to make a ticket , and I'm sure someone would be happy to help you out further! Thanks for your question!
