Expo + React Native + Segment + Facebook pixel
Our app is built using Expo + React Native. We'd like to drive app installs using Facebook ads. Expo doesn't allow integrating the native Facebook SDK however, so we are using Segment to send the "Application Installed" event to Facebook using the Expo Segment integration.
However, it seems to us that we should also integrate FB pixel so that FB can effectively map the link click to install events. From the documentation at https://segment.com/docs/destinations/facebook-pixel/ , it seems like we need to,
1) add FB pixel as a destination to segment
2) call Segment.identify with data about the user
Is our thinking around this accurate? Should completing these steps let us track FB app install conversions via Segment data?
Thanks for getting in touch! As long as you've configured everything correctly, you shouldn't have a problem getting set up with Facebook Pixel. If you're having problems or seeing unexpected results, please get in touch with us here.
That certainly sounds like it should work. However, if you run into any problems, feel free to get in touch with us directly so we can help you troubleshoot.

Hi Dilan & Spencer, this is the best info I've found online so far! I have a few questions on how you have configured Segment to make Expo work with the Facebook Pixel.
Here is my current setup - is that how I'm supposed to have it linked all together?
I've linked my two mobile apps (iOS/Android) to Facebook App Events, and my website to the Facebook Pixel. Will Segment be able to infer exposure to an ad if the newly acquired user does not go through our website but rather download for searching the app store?
Will Segment.identify() contain the pixel payload if I call it from the apps?
I'll still be searching in the meantime, if I find any solution I will surely share it back with the rest of you looking for the answer. Thanks in advance for your help! David
