Optimize Advertising on LinkedIn

Using the LinkedIn Conversions API (CAPI) destination, you’ll be able to better understand your customers and build more targeted audiences. This conversion tracking tool creates a direct link between marketing data from a connected advertiser’s server and LinkedIn.

Follow the steps below to connect the LinkedIn Conversions API Destination and get more ROI out of your ads.

 


 

Step 1: Add your destination

  1. In your Segment workspace, navigate to the Destinations section.
  2. Search for “LinkedIn Conversion API” in the Destinations Catalog, and select the destination.
  3. On the Overview Page, click the “Add Destination” button.
  4. Select which sources you want to connect to the LinkedIn Conversions API and click next.
  5. Provide a name for your Destination, e.g. “LinkedIn Conversion Tracking”.
  6. On the Settings tab, click “Connect to destination-name]” and follow the prompts to authenticate with LinkedIn using OAuth.
  7. Enable the destination and click “Save Changes”.

 

Step 2: Set up a mapping to Stream Conversion Events

  1. In your Segment workspace, navigate to the Mappings tab.
  2. Click on “+ New Mapping” and select “Stream Conversion Event”.
  3. Select relevant events to send to your LinkedIn Conversions API destination.
  4. Create new conversion rules, or enter the link to an existing rule.
  5. Configure the mappings between event fields and user attributes from your source to the Conversion API.
  6. Click “Save”.

After saving, Segment displays the connected rule for each mapping in the Mappings tab. In order to update any conversion rules, select the menu icon for the mapping in question and click on “Edit your configuration”. Make any changes and click “Save” to apply them.
