Feature Request: Source Tracking for Traffic Acquisition on SegmentWe would like to request a feature to enable source tracking for traffic acquisition within Segment. This feature would allow us to easily pass source attribution data (such as UTM parameters, referrer information, and campaign details) to connected destinations. By capturing the source of traffic (e.g., organic search, paid campaigns, social media, email newsletters) and sending this information to our destinations, we can gain deeper insights into the effectiveness of different acquisition channels, optimize our marketing efforts, and better attribute conversions. This would streamline our reporting and analysis across various platforms, ensuring data consistency and improving overall campaign performance.

How to compare computed traits?

Hello,I am currently tracking almost all the important events on our e-commerce website. Now, I want to use this data to send an abandoned cart email to the customer.How can I filter out the abandoned carts?I was thinking if the customer didn’t purchase anything in the next two hours then I can trigger it but if customer has removed an item from cart before that it can be empty.So what will be a good strategy?I am saving cart id but i am unable to compare last cart id of item added to cart and item purchased with each other.

Impact of Changing groupId on Existing Segment Destinations (Mixpanel & Intercom)

Hi everyone,We're integrating a new destination into Segment that requires us to change the groupId in our Group API calls. Currently, the groupId is set to customer_name (e.g., "CUSTOMERNAME"), which is a recognized unique identifier in our business. However, the new destination requires the groupId to be customer_key, a different unique identifier that maps 1:1 with customer_name but is represented as a string like "c9r0239nfoe".The issue is that we also use Mixpanel and Intercom as destinations, both of which receive data from our existing Segment API calls. I’m trying to understand:What impact will changing the groupId upstream have on these existing destinations? Will the data in Mixpanel or Intercom become fragmented (e.g., old data linked to customer_name and new data linked to customer_key)? Are there best practices for managing such a transition to ensure data consistency across all destinations?If anyone has experience with this or similar scenarios, I’d greatly appreciate yo

Is there a way to access the "event" history of each user and not just the last 14 days? Is it also possible to see a list with the options of my events, even those that are inactive?

Send User Activity to GA4/Google Ads through Segment

We're looking to push existing Segment.io events to GA4 or Google Ads to optimize GAds for certain in-app events such as buying a subscription. User signed up on our website. We registered this event with the help of Google Ads script as conversion, and the contacts of user appear in segment. Once the user will convert into paying user according to Segment, can we send this event back as offline conversion to Google Ads via your API integration?We managed to send event to GA4 using GA4 Cloud Destination (they appear as successfully sent) but we can't see them in GA4.We need some help to make this work.

How to setup reverseETL for identify events

I am using Big Query as a reverse ETL source and a webhook to dittofeed as the destination.The issue I am facing is that I want to set the `type` property to be `identify` for the reverse etl records, but segment by default is setting them to be `track`.Is there any way I can change the events for certain models be to be `identify`?Thanks!

Hey everybody, I was wondering what would be the best way to use Segment within a CLI tool. Should we directly embed the write-key and send data to Segment or should we use a proxy service which then redirects the data to Segment?How do we protect against abuse? Linking Hubspot Contacts to their primary Companies

Hi All,I’m hoping that some others that use Hubspot’s CRM + Segment to extract and load data from there may be able to help with a question that I have. In Hubspot’s CRM data model, there are Contacts (people) and Companies (businesses…these are basically the same thing as Accounts in Salesforce’s data model). Each Contact can be associated with zero, one, or many Companies (so Contacts:Companies is N:N). Additionally, there is a way to designate the association between a Contact and one single Company as the “primary” association. Out of the box, there do NOT appear to be any fields in the Contacts data the Segment fetches for us that offer either:The full list of IDs for associated Companies The ID of the primary associated CompanyI’d like to find a way to have Segment extract and load at least option #2 (ID of the primary associated Company) and ideally option #1 (full list of IDs for associated Companies). Mapping Offline Click Conversions events from Segment Track to Conversion Action in Google Ads

We're having trouble mapping Offline Click Conversion events from our Segment Track calls to the appropriate Conversion Action in Google Ads.In the Segment destination, the mapping appears to be correct and the dashboard says we have hundreds of successful deliveries to Google Ads of our 2 track events. Test events also appear to get successful 200 responses.In the data payload, we're mapped to the correct Conversion Action ID and we're sending that, the Conversion timestamp and the email address of the user.In Google Ads Conversion Settings, we have the following:- Enhanced conversions for leads -> Managed through Google Tag Manager- Enhanced conversions -> Managed through Google Ads API. How to Capture UTM Parameters with Google Login and Google One Tap Login

Hi Fellow Segmenters, We use segment to route the events from backend to all internal tools. I have a marketing data attribution issue with utm paramters values are not passed from root domain to a sub domain that loads after users signups up for a trial (with Google Account / OneTapgmail signin method). Examples:Root domain: example.comSubdomain after signing up: app.example.comThere is an option for users to use google sign or google on tap sign with gmail to signup for the account. Whenever the users chooses to use google account signin or google onetap sign-in, we are loosing the utm paramters and all the data is attributed as direct. The question: how can I pass utm paramters and their values from example.com?utm_source=google to app.example.com?utm_source=google after the google account login method is used via Segment? Using Segment with Shopify: Checkout events can no longer be pushed from Segment to Meta and Google

Hi Community,We have a webshop on Shopify and using Segment as our CDP.For over 5 months now, we have had the problem that all events that we track in the checkout are tracked correctly in Segment, but can no longer be pushed on to the performance channels (Meta and Google). All other events continue to arrive in the channels as intended. We suspect that Shopify is blocking the transfer of checkout events, but we can't really get any further with the support.Does anyone here have the same problem and can help or another idea as to why this could be? I do not have development resources in my company that help to create an Identify call from my website. As a temporary solution I’m planning to execute the Identify Call from a Destination Function in the same workspace on the onPage event (as I have the Segment source already configured so I’m receiving page calls from that website). Hi Segment Community, I’m currently working on a project where GDPR compliance is non-negotiable, and I need to ensure that user consent preferences are fully respected and enforced. After reviewing the documentation, comprehensive consent management and control over what data is sent to which destinations is only emphasized in the Business tier. Doc link. So, Is any level of consent control possible in the Team or Free plans? Specifically: 1. Can I control which destinations (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel) are activated based on user consent preferences in the lower tiers, or is that only available in the Business plan?2. Are cheaper plans at risk of being non-compliant with GDPR because they lack consent enforcement features, or are there any workarounds that allow at least some control over tracking and data sharing?3. How does Segment calculate MTUs for Facebook Ads source, given the collectiosn are all aggregared data?

My understanding is that billing is based on MTUs. The Facebook Ads source pulls in several table collections.Since these tables are aggregated at the date, campaign, adset level, how should I estimate MTU based billing for this source? There’s no user level data here, it’s all rolled up.

How Do I Get UTM Data from App into Hubspot?

Hi there - I am having issues getting attribution data from users who sign up on my web app (Source) into my Hubspot Destination. The app is capturing UTM parameters, but when that data gets fed into Hubspot from Segment, the Original Source in Hubspot is simply “INTEGRATION” and Original Source Drilldown 1 is “Twilio - Segment.” Ideally, I should be able to populate Hubspot’s native “Original Source” field with where these users are coming from (Organic, Paid Search, etc).Essentially, I’m unable to see where my web app signups are coming from because Segment is not passing this data correctly. We have the Hubspot Tracking Code installed on our app through Google Tag Manager, but finding this is still not working.This seems very basic but unfortunately I’m completely stuck. Any ideas?

Salesforce: Getting Lead IDs

I am setting up a Salesforce (Actions) destination. When I receive a particular event, I want to create a custom object that is associated with a lead. The event has the lead's email address (a unique identifier for the lead), but not the lead ID.Ideally, I would use the email address to get the lead ID and then include the lead ID when I create the custom object. Segment X Airship

Hi all, We have recently integrated with Segment and have an existing email marketing tool called Airship. Does anyone have any experience using the 2 tools to create lengthy onboarding journeys? We have created the onboarding steps in Segment that then trigger emails in Airship BUT we will run out of steps very soon. There has to be a better way of doing this by having the steps in Airship rather than Segment but i am not sure how to do this using the 2 tools effectively. Thanks, Brad

Device token issues + application opened event

Hello!We have a React Native mobile app and are having some trouble with our device tokens for the Application Opened lifecycle event.I’ve been looking at documentation but haven’t been able to find clear answers.Our application opened event is not sending the device_id and hence failing to reach the customer.io destination. What is a foolproof way to fetch the device token for both iOS and Android?

I am looking to create a computed trait of the last order before May 1st; however, when I pull the preview, it’s bringing in contacts that have an order completed beyond May 1st. Check out the screenshots below and let me know where I’m going wrong. Thank you!

How to manage Active Account Associations

I’m curious what techniques the community has used to manage user > account associations, when users could belong to multiple Accounts but no way to ‘ungroup’. This is relevant for a lot of scenarios, but especially in the case of using Account-based audiences for Journeys and email. For example, let’s say John Doe - john.doe@gmail.com - is associated with ‘Blue Inc.’ via group(). John leaves Blue Inc. and joins ‘Red Inc’, and we capture that with group() some time later either via form fill or our offline data. Now John is associated with two companies in Segment, but only ‘active’ at Red Inc. We ‘know’ John isn’t at Blue Inc. anymore, but cannot remove the association.We create an Account-based audience that Blue Inc. falls into, but Red does not, and want to push the list of all associated users to Marketo for email. Hello, I am seeking information on Segment's Paid Media Connectors and their capabilities for SA360, Meta, LinkedIn, and Google Ads. I am aware that the existing connectors can match email addresses. However, our Marketing department is interested in matching based on emails as well as other fields like phone numbers and addresses. Are these features available in the current connectors? If not, has there been any development of custom connectors to accommodate these requirements?
