For early customers using BigQuery with Segment, rather than providing Segment with credentials, access was granted to a shared service account (connector@segment-1119.iam.gserviceaccount.com). While convenient for early adopters, this presented potential security risks. In March 2019, Segment upgraded the BigQuery warehouse destination to improve its security. The upgrade involved moving from using Segment’s shared service account to each customer creating their own service account for Segment.Today, Segment is moving the BigQuery shared service accounts into End of Life. This means that:All shared service accounts have been deactivated. You will see an in-app banner on your old shared service account with instructions to create a new service account. You will then need to head to your warehouse’s connection settings and update with the credentials you created. For more information see the BigQuery Destination page.
