The Snapchat Conversions API destination, built on Destination Actions, is now in Public Beta.With this destination, customers can pass web, app, and offline events from Segment directly to Snap. New features exclusive to Analytics.js 2.0 are available to all Twilio Segment customers on all plans.These features include a more configurable client-side persistence layer and bundle obfuscation. These new features enable users to be even more prescriptive with their web application instrumentation by configuring the use of Analytics.js cookies, browser storage, and more.Information about all of these features can be found in the Analytics.js 2.0 documentation.
Analytics.js Sources for customers on Business Tier plans under a certain threshold were upgraded to leverage Analytics.js 2.0 during the week of June 13th, 2022.Analytics.js 2.0 is already available to all users on all plans. As a reminder, the End of Support date for Analytics.js Classic is August 31, 2022.Customers are encouraged to review the documentation to determine a timeline for upgrading their Sources.
The Salesforce (Actions) destination, built on Destination Actions, is now generally available to all Segment users.With this destination, customers can benefit from a number of improvements, including OAuth 2.0 support, granular control over what is sent to Salesforce (to help with those rate-limits!), and many quality-of-life improvements.For more information, see Segment's Salesforce (Actions) documentation.
Navigation for Engage is updated to improve navigability and provide access to key features and activities with fewer clicks.
With these new Web- and Cloud-mode destinations, you can send your first-party data to Adobe Target. This update to the Salesforce (Actions) destination fixes several customer pain points, improves security, and adds new functionality. The Salesforce (Actions) Destination supports OAuth 2.0, delivers granular control over what data is sent through the API (helping customers work within rate-limited contracts efficiently), and provides several new customization options and quality-of-life improvements.To learn more, read the Salesforce (Actions) Destination.
Segment's Google Ads Cloud Source is now powered by the latest Google Ads APIs. Google's Ads APIs are the next generation of their old AdWords APIs, which are scheduled to be deprecated on April 27, 2022. The Google Ads Cloud Source has been upgraded ahead of time to ensure that you can continue retrieving your data without interruption.No action is required by customers to enjoy the benefits of the upgrade.
Google deprecated Adwords v7 and Segment has updated its API integration to v9. This update allows customers using Google MCC to select any of the Google Ads accounts managed by their primary Google Ads account.For more information, see the Google Adwords Remarketing List Destination documentation.
The Journeys feature has been updated to remove caps on the total number of journeys in a workspace and the number of steps in a journey.The step counter has been removed from the Journey Builder canvas.Additionally, the calculation of steps to Compute Credits is updated so that every two steps equal one Compute Credit.

Segment introduces data purge functionality, which increases the privacy and security of your customers’ data and contributes to data minimization practices.Data purges let current and former Segment customers completely purge all customer data from Segment’s internal data stores. When you initiate a data purge, Segment removes all customer data associated with your workspace within 30 days.

Analytics Swift and Analytics Kotlin represent the next generation of mobile instrumentation in Segment. Built on Segment’s Actions framework, these conversions destinations provide flexibility in how events and properties are identified as conversions.These destinations send hashed and encrypted first-party conversion data in real-time to Facebook, Google, and TikTok respectively. The Google Analytics 4 destination lets you send data to the fourth version of Google's widely-used analytics platform, taking advantage of its powerful new features.New users can implement easily, and current users can migrate without making any changes to the events and properties they are already collecting.For more information, see the Google Analytics 4 documentation.
The Getting Started Guide gives self-service customers the option to be guided through a more managed onboarding path. It is comprised of three main components:A new Workspace Strength score to guide the early customer journey and recommend the best next task; Prescriptive, guided tasks taking users through improving their implementation, and thereby increasing their Workspace Strength; A longer-form companion walkthrough guide to help users discover how and why workspace strength should be improved.
In Q4 2021, Segment upgraded the AWS S3 integration to improve its security. The new, more secure AWS S3 destination uses an Identity Access Management (IAM) role designated by the customer during setup, which improves privacy and security and aligns with AWS best practices.Segment is now moving the legacy Amazon S3 destination into Limited Access. This means that:You will see an in-app banner on the old Amazon S3 destination with recommendations and instructions to migrate to the new AWS S3 with IAM destination. You will be prevented from updating any old Amazon S3 destinations, but Segment continues to guarantee delivery and support for both destinations.Customers using our old Amazon S3 destination are encouraged to migrate to the new, more secure AWS S3 with IAM destination today.
